The " Idealistic " Mindset!

Many people think that when they have enough money, then they will only have time to sit down and enjoy life with their children. Do you agree with this type of assumption?

As for me personally, I do not agree with the above statement! Based on the above statement, the very first question that comes to my mind is : " How much is enough? ". As we are all aware, the level of "enough" is not the same for everyone! I have seen many friends when they are in financial difficulties, they told me they just need a little bit of financial assistance then they will be very happy! However, when financial assistance had been provided for them, their desire of getting more become very intense! Their unhappiness re-appear and they put themselves back into a miserable life! I really do not know why some people like to jump into the " cycle of suffering ". From one type of suffering jumps into another type of suffering! I believe our non mindfulness of watching our mind can really create a lot of miseries for ourselves!

I have come across many hawkers and laborers who are not earning " big " money but they are leading a happy life with their family. They know how much is enough for them and they know how to lead their life based on their steady inflow of income! In fact, one of my relatives, who is a roadside hawker, has "produced" two doctors and one engineer in the family. I have also come across a client who is a millionaire but he is not happy all the time. He is unhappy because he still can't get his desired first billion ringgit! For this client of mine, he is already 65 years old.

So, can we wait till we have enough money then only enjoy life together with the family?

The answer is in your hand!

The " Non Forgiveness " Mindset

Is forgiveness such a difficult task for us?

Many people believe that forgiveness is such an easy thing! When someone approaches us to say that so and so had offended him or her, most of the time we will tell them to forgive the offender. However, when someone has offended us, we will get stuck and at time our mind just refused to let go and tell us not to forgive the offender.

As at todate, I still have not come across any religion who teaches us not to forgive those who have offended us! Almost all religions in the world teach us to forgive and forget those who has offended us, however how many people really follow the teaching? Sometime I feel amuzed to know that even the Divine Being does not forgive those who sin against Him and "send" those who sin against him to etrenal Hell! If I have misunderstood the message of the Divine Being, I hope some kind hearted people could enlighten me!

I believe the practise of forgiveness doesn't apply only to just all the lay people! It also applies to country to country! If forgiveness cannot be practised in this world, can we live in a peaceful world?

A few good questions for us to ponder before I end this post:

1. What is pulling us from forgiving those who has offended us? Our Ego? Our Pride? or ....... ? ".
2. Will our " Non Forgiveness " mindset be the root cause of our future problem?
3. Can " Non Forgiveness " mindset helps us to resolve our problem?
4. Will " Non Forgiveness " leads to more problems?
5. Can we be more happy if we were to let go the " Non Forgiveness " mindset?

Please share your thoughts!

What A Belief?

Some people believe that when everything goes wrong with them or not on their side, they are having bad luck. They need to go to the religious places to do prayer to ward off their bad luck! I really do not know how far it is true! What I believe is that after they have performed their prayer, irrespective of whether the Divine Being is helping them or not, psychologically they will have more confidence in whatever they do!

Some people maybe saying that prayer does not help one to solve their problem or ward off their bad luck. Well, I believe when a person is having problem, his mind will not be stable and his confidence level will be low! This is the time when they will seek or look for spiritual support. Let us look at this example, when the economical situation is getting worse, we can see more people going to the religious places to seek blessings from the Divine Being! Another good example is : we can see more people seeking consultation from the astrologers or palmists to boost up their confidence.

As the saying goes, " Mind is the forerunner of all conditioned things! ". If your mind tell you you can do it, I believe you will definitely find a way to do it! ". If you believe after you have done your prayer and the Divine Being is with you or giving you His full support, this will immediately boost up your confidence! With your full confidence, whatever challenges you are going to face, you will be able to overcome it.

Who Makes Our Life Miserable?

My friend told me that he advised his son not to come back to our country after he has graduated from his study in foreign country. I asked him why and he told me all the negative apects of our country. What a pessimistic person my friend is! I strongly believe we should not look at thing in only one aspect! We should look at thing in totality!

Based on what he told me, my opinion is that he has forgotten that he was born in this country, he had his education in this country, he was married in this country, all his children were born in this country, he earns his living in this country to support his family and ............. no matter what negative views he has on this country, he still live comfortably in this country and support all his children to study in foreign country! If our country is so bad like what he said, I believe he won't be able to survive in this country! Based on what I know from him, he has 3 landed properties in the niche housing estate rented out to expatriates. I really do not know why he is still having such a negative view towards the country! In my opinion, if he were to open up his mindset and look at thing in totality, maybe he will change his view.

I believe my friend is not the odd one. Many people are also having this type of mindset. People tends to be so "forgetful" that they are now enjoying a good living! They just like to pick up one or two issues which are not to their benefits and harp on it!

I remember of a story which I read a few weeks ago, the story goes like this : There is a man who met a President of a well developed country and asked him what he wanted to do with his neighboring small country. The President told him that he is going to have war with the country, kill all the citizen who go against him and also a bicycle repairman so that his country can take over the small country. The man immediately asked the President why he needs to kill the bicycle repairman??????????

The moral of the story is that : mankind tends to look at extreme or some small mistake made by others and focus or harp on it. Just imagine why can't the man asked the President why he intends to kill so many people instead of just concern about the bicycle repairman?!

For those who possess the mindset of looking at thing in one aspects, I believe it is high time for them to learn to look at thing in totality so that their mind will not be clouded and become pessimistic! Life is uncertain, death is certain! Why waste our precious time just to focus on negative thing and make our life miserable!

Should We Watch Our Mind?

I do not know what the buddhist monk was talking to the young lady in the middle of the night i.e 11.45pm. However, based on the banners which were sticked on the wall, he claims himself to be the Chief Abbot of a renowned temple in China. He also claims himself to be an expert in Feng Shui and can predict the future of a person. I really do not understand why a Chief Abbot of a renowned temple in China is providing this type of service to the public?!
Well, I believe there are many ways to look at this photo.

A) Negative View

1. Is the above monk really a Chief Abbot of a temple? Why is he still hanged around outside his temple in the middle of the night? How can we verify his identity?
2. Is the above buddhist monk "qualified" to do the counselling work?
3. Can the above monk guide the young lady on the Right Path? Will he make the matter worse?

B) Positive View

1. The buddhist monk is so kind-hearted that he even help people in the middle of the night.

Anyway, I believe for those who are having problem and really really in need of the spiritual guidance, he or she must go to the right place to seek for assistance.

I believe when people are in trouble, their mind are confused and they can't differentiate what is wrong and what is right! This is the moment when those so called " intelligent holy people " will take advantage of the sitution. Recently there were many cases reported in the newspaper that bogus monks are creating fear for those who seek their assistance and cheat them of their money accordingly. Anyway, I believe as long as we constantly watch our mind and are mindful of what we are doing, we won't fall into this type of trap!

The " End Of The World " Mindset

Recently, I received an email from a friend with the title :

" Life is short for the human race because... the End Of The World is Year 2012 "

I wonder is it important for us to know when will be the end of the world? I believe this type of message will create discomfort or panicky situation for the people. As I can still remember, I have been hearing people saying about the end of the world is coming soon for many many years. However, after some time, a new message will come out to tell people that the Divine Being loves mankind so much that He is sending someone down to the Earth to save all the mankind.

I believe whatever arises in this world, there will definitely be an end to it one day! Change is the only constant in this world! This is a fact and I believe no one can deny this fact! Anyway, I believe if we have done our part as a good human, why should we worry about the end of the world! If it is really true that the world is going to end by the year 2012, can anyone do anything to STOP the process?

As we are aware, there are many many people "leaving" this beautiful world every minute and every second! In fact, we also do not know when will be our turn to depart from this beautiful world?!

Mankind really has an interesting and funny character! They just do not want to focus on how to live now but worry about what is going to happen next! They have forgotten that all the "tomorrow" begins with today!

The " Right Or Wrong Path " ?

"It doesn't matter how you earn your money. As long as you are rich, no one will question you!". This is the exact words one of my friends told his son. I do not know will this words imprint in his son's mind. I am really worried that his son may misinterpret what my friend has told him.

I can still rememeber a goldsmith shop in the biggest shopping complex in our country many many years ago. The owner of the goldsmith shop was living in a luxurious house and was driving a luxurious car. He sold his gold products at a cheaper price than all his competitors. All the customers were crazy over his products because of the cheaper rate. His business was overwhelming and the shop was packed with customers everyday. One day, the owner was caught, he was identified by the Police as the mastermind for all the robbery of the goldsmith shops in the country. People admire him because of his richness! Yes, it's true that no one questions him where he got the gold and the money. When he was caught by the Police, no one pities him. All his customers also start to worry whether will they also be in trouble because of purchasing the "stolen products" from him.

Based on the above real life story, I believe we really have to guide our younger generations on what is the "Right Thning Right". If we were to tell our younger generations the above words, we have to make sure that we say it clearly so that they won't misinterpret our words. No ambiguous words should be used to guide our younger generations.

We have to make sure we don't mislead or misguide our younger generations, or else the world will be in great trouble.

The " Sexy Is Pretty " Mindset

Two days ago, one of my colleagues told the senior colleague to wear a more sexy dress to her wedding dinner. She told the elderly colleague that she will look more pretty if she wear more sexily! I really do not know how the young lady define pretty and sexy? Pretty is Sexy? Sexy is Pretty?

Nowaday, we can see many advertisements in the media which encourage ladies to "modify" their body or skin so that they can look more pretty! I remembered what my mother told me before. She said we must maintain natural beauty all the time rather than to focus on artificial beauty. If we maintain natural beauty, we do not need to worry about side effect later. If it is a "modify" beauty, we will be living in the shadow of fear. We do not know the side effect of the "materials" used for modification purpose! Most of the "materials " used for the modification purpose will not show their side effect immediately. The side effect will only surface after a period of time! I have come across a lady who went for bust enhancement program and later diagnosed with breast cancer. I do not know whether it is a coincidence or a side effect.

Recently, I came across another real life interesting story of a middle-aged lady who went to seek consultation from a so-called face reading expert. She requested the expert to anlayse her future based on her face. After analysing her face, the first question the expert asked her was : "Did you "modify" your nose, your eyelid and remove any moles on your face before?". The lady said yes. According to the young lady, she had done some minor surgery to make her nose higher and to have double eyelid. She has also removed two moles on her face. According to the expert, the accuracy of analysing her future based on her "modified" face will be affected. He told her that if she has a flat nose, her life will be more easier. He also told her that the two moles which she had removed are the "lucky moles"!

I believe we should feel proud of what we have. We are unique in our own way! Why should we modify our body or wear sexily to project that we are pretty? If your spouse hold on to the view that sexy is pretty, you have to find a way to ask your spouse this question : Would you still love me if my face is full of wrinkles and all my muscles are sagging? Hahaha..... .

Do we mean an old lady with all the muscles sagging and can't wear sexy dress is not pretty? I do not think so. Just to share with all my blogger friends, my mother who was at her death bed at the age of 94 years was very pretty! Although she can't wear sexily on her death bed, the love she showered on us made her pretty forever and ever!

The "Image" Mindset

A few days ago, a real estate agent told me he was shocked when he met one of his potential clients. He told me I would not believe his client is a multi-millionaire if I were to meet him. He told me that his client is a elderly farmer living in a rural area. He is living in a wooden house with his wife. All his children are either doctor or engineer. Although all his children are professionals, financially well to do, living in the niche housing estate and driving luxurious car, he still maintains a very low profile life style. He does not wear branded dress or shoe, he does not have any credit card, he does not wear any expensive watch, he does not go to any porch restaurant except when he is invited for function. However, he owns a large piece of land in a prestigious urban area.

I have seen many people when they are a bit well to do, they will try to show off. One of my neighbours belongs to this group of people. When he was just an insurance agent, he was driving a national car which is just 1500c.c. . When he was promoted as Agency supervisor, he immediately changes his car. He is now driving a branded 3000c.c luxurious car. From what I understand, his income is not stable and he is having difficulty in repaying his car loan. However, according to him, it is alright if he is not rich, but the image must be maintained! I really do not understand what does he mean! Do not have enough money to service the car loan, but still insist to drive the luxurious car because of "Image".

I know of another businessman, whenever he didn't service his car loan, he will hide his car somewhere. He insisted that he will not sell the car because "IMAGE"! Well, I do not understand the theory behind all this "Image" matter.

I believe we must live within our means! Why should we let our life to be measured, managed and controlled by others? If we succumb to others' measurement, we will start to commit ourselves heavily without oursleves knowing it just to live up to the expectation of others. Are we doing any justice to ourselves!

Who Should Guide The Younger Generations?

I was surprised to see the indifferent attitude of a young lady when I was at a retail store yesterday. The young lady was searching for some electrical products at a retail store. When she was searching for her electrical product, a packet of goods dropped down from the shelf. The packet of goods landed in front of her legs. As I was curious to know how she would respond to it, I stand there for a few minutes just to observe her response. I was rather disppointed to see that she just ignored the packet of goods which was on the floor. A question immediately comes to my mind, I was thinking if she is the owner of the store, would she expect her customer to help pick up the packet of goods and place it back to the shelf?! I believe she might be thinking that this is non of my business, why should I care about it! I am just a customer of the retail store. I really do not know how the younger generations are being "moulded" up nowaday? I also do not know whether helping people is considered as a good value to the younger generations? I believe all the parents and teachers should review how we should "mould" our younger generations?!

I still remember the story of a robber who bites off the nipples of his mother during his last moment with his mother. He blamed and scolded his mother for not guiding him the right value in life! When he was in a primary school, he always "take" his classmate's pencil or pencil box back to his house. His mother did not scold or punish him. When he was in seconday school, he used to "take" protection money from his classmates or schoolmates. His mother also did not check with him on how and where he gets his money? When he left school, he started to rob people of their belongings. Eventually, he was involved in a gun robbery. He was caught and was sentenced to death by the Judge.

Who should guide our younger generations on the right value in life? The Government, the teachers or the parents? I believe we really need to look at this matter seriously before it becomes worse and affect the society!

Cultivating "Right Thing Right (RTR) " Mindset

After reading the below article which I came across recently, it makes me to think profoundly why mankind needs to go round and round to search for "magical food" to maintain their health?! Nowaday, there are many people going round and round to search for "magical food" to maintain their health. Some of these "magical foods" are not cheap and consumers are advised to take it together with some other supplements. I believe if we are discipline in our mind and thoughts, we can differentiate between the two simple words of "Need" and "Want", we can save a lot of our money and trouble to look for the "magical food" to reduce the toxins in our body. In fact, I have come across some wealthy people who just depend on the magical food to maintain their health. They have totally ignored the importance of the "food for our mind" and physical exercise! I believe food for our mind, physical body and exercise are equally importance to maintain our health. I would also like to thank Dr Shigeaki Hinohara for his sharings. Kindly read the below article and share your views.

"97 Years Old Doctor And This Is What He Has To Say.... "
Doctor Shigeaki Hinohara

Energy comes from feeling good, not from eating well or sleeping a lot. We all remember how as children, when we were having fun, we often forgot to eat or sleep. I believe that we can keep that attitude as adults, too. It's best not to tire the body with too many rules such as lunchtime and bedtime.

All people who live long regardless of nationality, race or gender share one thing in common:None are overweight... For breakfast I drink coffee, a glass of milk and some orange juice with a tablespoon of olive oil in it. Olive oil is great for the arteries and keeps my skin healthy. Lunch is milk and a few cookies, or nothing when I am too busy to eat. I never get hungry because I focus on my work.. Dinner is veggies, a bit of fish and rice, and, twice a week, 100 grams of lean meat..

Always plan ahead. My schedule book is already full until 2014, with lectures and my usual hospital work. In 2016 I'll have some fun, though: I plan to attend the Tokyo Olympics!
There is no need to ever retire, but if one must, it should be a lot later than 65. The current retirement age was set at 65 half a century ago, when the average life-expectancy in Japan was 68 years and only 125 Japanese were over 100 years old. Today, Japanese women live to be around 86 and men 80, and we have 36,000 centenarians in our country. In 20 years we will have about 50,000 people over the age of 100...

Share what you know. I give 150 lectures a year, some for 100 elementary-school children, others for 4,500 business people. I usually speak for 60 to 90 minutes, standing, to stay strong.
When a doctor recommends you take a test or have some surgery, ask whether the doctor would suggest that his or her spouse or children go through such a procedure. Contrary to popular belief, doctors can't cure everyone. So why cause unnecessary pain with surgery I think music and animal therapy can help more than most doctors imagine.

To stay healthy, always take the stairs and carry your own stuff. I take two stairs at a time, to get my muscles moving.

My inspiration is Robert Browning's poem "Abt Vogler." My father used to read it to me. It encourages us to make big art, not small scribbles. It says to try to draw a circle so huge that there is no way we can finish it while we are alive. All we see is an arch; the rest is beyond our vision but it is there in the distance.

Pain is mysterious, and having fun is the best way to forget it. If a child has a toothache, and you start playing a game together, he or she immediately forgets the pain. Hospitals must cater to the basic need of patients: We all want to have fun. At St. Luke's we have music and animal therapies, and art classes.

Don't be crazy about amassing material things. Remember: You don't know when your number is up, and you can't take it with you to the next place.

Hospitals must be designed and prepared for major disasters, and they must accept every patient who appears at their doors. We designed St.... Luke's so we can operate anywhere: in the basement, in the corridors, in the chapel. Most people thought I was crazy to prepare for a catastrophe, but on March 20, 1995, I was unfortunately proven right when members of the Aum Shinrikyu religious cult launched a terrorist attack in the Tokyo subway. We accepted 740 victims and in two hours figured out that it was sarin gas that had hit them. Sadly we lost one person, but we saved 739 lives.

Science alone can't cure or help people. Science lumps us all together, but illness is individual. Each person is unique, and diseases are connected to their hearts. To know the illness and help people, we need liberal and visual arts, not just medical ones.

Life is filled with incidents. On March 31, 1970, when I was 59 years old, I boarded the Yodogo, a flight from Tokyo to Fukuoka. It was a beautiful sunny morning, and as Mount Fuji came into sight, the plane was hijacked by the Japanese Communist League-Red Army Faction. I spent the next four days handcuffed to my seat in 40-degree heat. As a doctor, I looked at it all as an experiment and was amazed at how the body slowed down in a crisis.

Find a role model and aim to achieve even more than they could ever do. My father went to the United States in 1900 to study at DukeUniversity in North Carolina. He was a pioneer and one of my heroes. Later I found a few more life guides, and when I am stuck, I ask myself how they would deal with the problem.

It's wonderful to live long. Until one is 60 years old, it is easy to work for one's family and to achieve one's goals. But in our later years, we should strive to contribute to society Since the age of 65, I have worked as a volunteer. I still put in 18 hours seven days a week and love every minute of it.

A " Stubborn " Mindset

One of my neighbors told me that he is suffering from insomnia. According to him, his sickness may be due to his previous employment schedule. He was a flight steward before. He opted for voluntary separation scheme two years ago. According to him, since the day he left his employment, he is unable to sleep every night. He was putting the blame on his previous employment.

Based on my observation, he is a very stubborn person. He refuses to accept others' opinions and advices. This is not the first time he is telling me about his problem. In fact, I and my other neighbors had been advising him to change his lifestyle. However, he just " brushed " our advice away. He continues to enjoy his life every night till early next morning then only he returns to his house.

In my opinion, this is a mindset problem. A person who refuses to be " open " and " let go " his own view. In fact, he is not the only person in this world that is facing this type of mindset problem, i.e unable to manage his mind and let the " thoughts " that are created in the mind to control thier life!

Just to share an example how our thoughts created in our mind can control us if we don't control them, take the example of a rapist or a robber, what would happen to him if he can't control his mind, all the evil thoughts in his mind will overrule him and " push " him to commit the evil action!

I strongly believe that no one can control our mind unless we surrender our right to let others to control it! I understand that this neighbor of mine has sought the help of some religious groups, however, due to his " stubbornness ( he thinks he is better than all them! ) ", no effective results have been achieved. This is a very obvious case that if a person is highly egoistic and refuses to be open and let go his own wrong views, no one can help him or her!

" Normalize It " Mindset

I came to know that one of my colleagues is afraid to attend wake. According to him whenever he had attended any wake, he will fall sick seriously and the worst thing is that he will have bad luck for the next few months. Picture courtesy of Science Agogo

Recently, I created a joke out of him. I told him that he should attend more wakes to increase his positive mental energy. I told him that he won't die by attending more wakes. In fact, I believe it would be better for him. I believe some superstitous person will be saying that I am MAD! Yes, I am MAD, I want to Make A Difference (MAD). I do not want him to continue to live in the shadow of FEAR! I want to help him to overcome his FEAR! I believe what I do is right! In fact, the reasons behind my jokes are, if he were to attend more wakes:

1. he will slowly become "immune" to it.
2. his fear towards superstitious matter will also disappear slowly
3. for every wake he attends, he will surely learn something about life! e.g " life is uncertain, death is certain ", " Everything in this world is subjected to Impermanance ", " how should we leave this world " etc......... .

Well, I do not deny or rule out that the " spirit " or the " consciousness of the deceased " is around during the wake. However, I believe the deceased will not "hurt" anyone since the deceased is in a " transition period " to go to another plane of existence.

I share with this colleague a real story of another friend. This friend of mine is very scared of ghosts! He told me that he won't go near to any cemetery because there are many ghosts there. However, when he had fallen in love with a girl who is living nearby a cemetery, he has forgotten that he is afraid of ghosts! He even invited his girl friend to go for midnight show and late supper. After the midnight show and supper which almost near to 1.45 a.m. he will then send her girl friend back to her house. The ghosts issue no longer appears in his mind!

I believe my collegue has to take greater efforts to strenghen his mental state! Just take the example of the radio. If we tune to certain wavelength, certain radio station will be on air. If we constantly focus our mind on negative matter, the negative matter will be attracted by us and it follows us wherever we goes!

Cultivating " Happiness Begins With Us " Mindset

" People Need Motivating Words To Cheer Up! "

If we can cheer up a person by uttering some motivating words to him or her, why should we be so stingy about our words? Anyway, making people happy is just like sprinkling perfume on others, you will also get the perfume smell eventually.

The below video which I received from a long lost friend has a great message to tell us! In fact, I am really impressed with the content of the video. The World would be a better place for us if all of us were to take the initiative to utter some kind and motivating words to whoever we are dealing with! The video was posted by hughnewman1024 on YouTube last year. To appreciate the picture, please click on the below link :

" I Am Busy " Mindset

" I am busy ..........., I am busy ..........., I am busy....................".

I have been hearing people saying the above phrase very frequently. I am wondering when it is time for the busy person to leave the world, can he say that he is too busy to leave the world? Can his death be postponed?

When someone did not do their job, they will say they are busy and do not have time to do it. When someone does not want to attend a function, the best excuse is to say " I am busy ".

When my mother was at her last breath, my brother summoned my niece to come home, however, my sister-in-law had a quarrel with him. She scolded my brother for calling my niece back from her busy work assignment at outstation. I was really disappointed to find out that my niece actually went outstation for a holiday with some friends and not for work assignment as mentioned by my sister in law.
When my nephew in law did not come home to attend my eldest brother's funeral, he gave the excuse of "he was busy with work". However, we were disappointed to know that he actually went to a casino with his friends during that day.
When our clients do not want to see us, they will give the excuse of "they are busy"!
I believe we can easily give many many examples of people using " I AM BUSY " to push their duties and responsibilities away.
I believe all busy people must find out why are they so busy? Did they set their priority right? Many of my busy friends eventually told me that they are really exhausted and they did not achieve what they want! They have missed the opportunity to enjoy the happy moments with their family members, and the worst one they told me was that they have forgotten how to live their life! Do you want to join them?

" Life Never Dies! "

LIFE = AGE ?

When we talk about life, we talk about age! People like to link "Life" to "Age"! Is there really a linkage between Life and Age? I came across this powerful question, " What is the purpose of Life?" on many many occasions. However, as at todate, I still haven't come across the question of, " What is the purpose of Age?"!

Based on my personal observation, whenever someone attends the wake of any deceased person, the very first thing he or she will do is to look at the age of the deceased person! I really do not understand what is the significant for us to look at the age of the deceased?

Mankind are funny, they always like to interpret a person's death as good or bad according to their own perception. Just take a simple example, if a person dies young, some may be saying, it is a pity to see a person dies young. However, there may be some who will say that we should be happy for the deceased because the Divine Being loves him or her so much that He has to take him back to His Kingdom. Which is the right version? I do not know!

To me personally, we should not worry so much on how long should we stay or live in this world! We should be more concerned about how much good we have done for mankind and the world during the period we are in this world! I believe we will feel much happier if we have done a lot of good deeds before we leave the world. We will have no regrets to leave the world!

I came to know that three of our beloved friends who went to India to do some charity work recently met with a tragic accident and passed away. Leaving the world in the midst of performing a noble task! I believe their good merits will definitely leads them to be reborn in a better place of existence! What Should We Do Now ?

" Nowaday, the Generation X and Generation Y are so different from our time. They behave and think so differently!". What an interesting statement which comes from the mouth of the "more wisdom" group of people!

I do not know when they were saying that, did they really think how the Generation X and Y are being "produced"? Who are the one that has "moulded" the Generation X and Y? Can the Generation X and Y "pop up" from nowhere? Are the Generation X and Y the creation of the Divine Being? I believe all of them did not think about it. What they do is just to talk about the "thinking and behavior" of the Generation X and Y!

Let us take a look at the current society. To most of the parents, the most important for them is to earn more money to support the family! I really do not know how one should evaluate how much is enough for a family to survive?! Just imagine how many CEOs' with more than a million dollars income per annum are there in the world? What is the percentage of person with low income are there in the world? Do we mean that those with low income will not be able to sustain their life in the world? Should all the parents just focus on the process of earning more income and ignore the responsibility of educating their children? I came across many rich parents who think that since they do not have much time to spend with their children, the only way they compensate them is to provide more money for their children to do or buy whatever they like. They just couldn't be bother to check the activities of their children. In their mind, as long as they have provided the shelter and money for them, they have already fulfilled their duty as a parent! Sigh!

I believe to provide proper guidance to our younger generations is more important than to just give them the money to spend! Yes, I do not deny that money is important to certain extend, however, if the parents do not take the effort to guide their children, no matter how much money the parents are giving it to them, it won't be enough. I believe the saying, " We should teach our children how to fish rather than to give them the fish!" has a profound meaning in it!

The below meaningful quote which I extract from Auntie Tracye's blog http://troop638.blogspot.com/ provides us an insight on what should we do to guide our younger genertions to make the world a better place to stay.

We sow a THOUGHT we reap an ACT
We sow an ACT we reap a HABIT
We sow a HABIT we reap a CHARACTER
We sow a CHARACTER we reap a DESTINY!

" Home Sweet Home " ?

When I was visiting my friend at the hospital last week, I was amazed when I got to know that the first sentence a buddhist monk told his followers after he had regained his consciousness from his heart operation was : " I want to go home! ". Being a buddhist monk, he has already renounced from his home and yet he is telling his followers that he wants to go home!

Nowaday, there are many youngsters who do not like to go home! They prefer to loiter around at the shopping complexes, cybercafes or get together with their friends in a nearby food stall to "chit chat"! I really do not understand what is inside the mind of all this youngsters! What are the reasons that they do not like to go home? Is their house really such a "horrible" place for them to be around? What actually went wrong with them or their home?

A buddhist monk who has renounced from home is requesting permission to go home, the youngsters who have a home and they do not want to go home! Sometime, the parents also do not know what their children are doing outside their home till late night! In fact, there are many crime cases happened during night time! What has actually gone wrong with the society? The parental guidance or the education system or both?

Based on the crime rate which has increased over the years, I believe this is a serious issue the society needs to address! If it is the parental guidance that has gone wrong, parents have to re-look at the ways how they guide their children. If it is the fault of the education system, someone in the higher authority needs to take a careful look at the situation. I believe we should be more pro-active and develop a preventive action plan to address the issue before it happens!

I also strongly believe that "Home" is best place to build the character and the right value system of the younger generation! We should put our hands together to help the younger generation to make the world a better place to stay. Just like the beautiful saying "Charity Begins From Home", should I also add "Character building also Begins from Home"

The " I Am Sincere" Mindset

"I am sincere to ....................... . It's true, I am really sincere to ............." .

Why should we tell people that we are sincere? Do we mean we are not sincere all the time or our sincerity is at stake? Action speaks louder than words, why can't we show our sincerity through our actions?!

I have come across many incidences where the person who says he or she is sincere is the most "non-sincere" person!

One of my friends ( a General Manager ) likes to use the above phrase when he is talking to his subordinates. However, from my understanding, he is the most "non-sincere" person in the organization. Whatever he says or does, he has a "secret agenda" behind his words or action. One of the incidences that I still can remember well was when his Human Resource Manager was recommended by his superior to become the Group HR Manager, he was so afraid that he told me he will find ways to stop him to be promoted to the recommended position. When I asked him why, he told me that the current HR Manager may "hurt" all his team members if he is up there! From what I know he has been "mistreating or victimising" the HR Manager all these while. I believe he is more worried for himself rather than for his team members. He told the HR Manager that he was sincere and wanted to help him. He "sweet talk" and convince the HR Manager that the higher level he goes, the position will be more and more hectic. When the HR Manager echoed him that he believe what he said, he immediately picked up the telephone and call his superior to tell his superior that the HR Manager had rejected the promotion. The HR Manager ( also one of my friends ) later told me that he was stunned and speechless when the GM called and tell the MD that he had rejected the promotion. In fact, the HR Manager told me that he would like to take up the challenges.

I came across another incident where a businessman told me that he is very sincere with his employees, however, after knowing him for a few weeks, I can say that he is a real hypocrite! He did not honor his words all the times! He promised the employees if they meet certain targets as set by him, he will give them a good bonus, but when they hit the targets, he just "easily" forget what he had promised the employees! He will use the money for his own "pleasure" instead of sharing some profit with his employees. Honestly, I do not know whether does he really understand the word " SINCERE" mean?!

I believe a sincere person uses his action to prove to people that he is sincere. He does not need to tell people that he is sincere all the time! Any disagreement?

Who Is Responsible For What We Do?

I was shocked when I read from the newspaper that a married man with four young children told the media this: "I leave it to GOD to move my "merely good friend" status with the lady to the next level". Based on what he said, I believe their marriage last week were blessed by their GOD. I was wondering whether will the Divine Being break the relationship of a married couple? Will the Divine Being helps mankind to cover their wrong doing? Also can mankind just sit and do nothing and wait for their Divine Being to decide everything for them?

Well, the more interesting thing to know is that some of this wedding ceremonies are held or solemnised at the religious places. I believe their Divine Being is aware of what msiconduct they have committed. I also believe thing must have started from somewhere sometime before it can be landed up with this results. If someone were to tell you that this couple have not met each other before and suddenly they got married, do you believe it? I believe you have the answer!

I believe the worst thing we can do in this world is to use religion to cover our own wrong doing! We should be responsible for what we have done! We have the courage to commit misconduct, why can't we also have the courage to admit it?! No only in terms of marriage, there are many things in this world that mankind can push it to the Divine Being if they want to, for example : when there is flood, they can blame the Divine Being for the heavy downpour, when there is drought, they can also blame the Divine Being for no rainfall. When the global warming started, they can blame the Divine Being for creating it. When there is H1N1, they can blame the Divine Being for creating the virus etc........ . I believe mankind is "transferring" too many responsibilities to the Divine Being. Poor Divine Being! Hahaha...... .

Lastly, I just hope that before we push our duties and responsibilities to the Divine Being or anyone, we must reflect : "Is this problem created by me?".

Any disagreement? Please share.

" Back To The Basic " Mindset!

I was very angry with the Contractor who was doing the renovation work for my neighbor this morning. One week ago, I requested him to remove all the wooden moulds which his contract workers threw at the back of my house. He promised me he will do so. One week has passed and there is no sign that he will remove all the wooden moulds.

Since the day he started the renovation work, his contract workers had been throwing rubbish at the back of my house. My house is now " infected " with rats, mosquitoes, coackroaches and ants. Before they start the renovation work, we don't have this type of problem. Since I can't tolerate the situation anymore, I take the initaitive to clean up the area this morning. When I remove the wooden moulds, I was shocked to see that there were a "group of rats" hiding under the wooden moulds. I was stunned and really do not know what to do. " To KILL " or " NOT TO KILL " them?! Apart from the rats, the mosquitoes flew out immediately and the cockroaches and ants were running for their life!
All religions teach us not to kill or murder! Now, I am facing with this type of "challenges or maybe some may called it a test from the Divine Being", what should I do now? Well, I should say that I am very fortunate, when the rats saw me, they were more freighten than me. When I was in deep thought of what should I do next? Suddenly, all the rats ran away! I was so happy that I didn't need to deal with the rats anymore. However, I was sad that I have no other choice for the mosquitoes and insects but to destroy their "house" immediately by spraying the insecticides.
Based on this incident, I realize that why people said it is not easy for us to practise what the religious teachers taught. This incident has also made me realized that I have to be " back to the basic ". What is the point for me to search "deeper and deeper" whereas I can't even " perfect " the " BASIC "! Moreover, all the advance teaching of the religious teachers are from a "Base"!
Any sharing?

The "FEARING" Mindset

" If you do not follow what the Divine Being says or disobey His Instruction or Order, He will punish you by sending you to a "Torturing Place" later!"

The above statement sounds interesting! I do not know who "created" the statement. What I am interested to know is "how does the person who said that statement knows the Divine Being can get angry and send the person to Hell?". The Divine Being is supposed to be compassionate and treated all human like His own child. However, if the above statement is true, I am wondering how could the Divine Being does such a cruel thing? It is just like a mother who is angry with his child and kill the child just to stop him from further annoying her! It seems to me that they are many self-proclaimed messengers of the Divine Being who are here to convey the message of the Divine Being nowaday. Some of them use the tactic of "FEAR" to threaten people so that they will become their follower. Some of them use "LOVE" to win over the heart of the people! If the people do not succumb to "Threat", they will use "Love"! Anyway, if the Divine Being can get angry, then what is the difference between Him and us, the Human Being? I believe many self proclaimed messengers have already "humanized (?!)" the Divine Being.

Anyway, why should we be a "Divine Being Fearing" human? I believe as long as we practise "Avoid Evil, Do Good and Purify our Mind / Soul ", we should not worry so much about the consequences we have to face later. I believe we should "fear not" by upholding good moral principle and value "! Please share your view.

The "Study One Thing, Do Another Thing" Mindset

Recently, I wrote to two religious societies seeking their help to find an Accountant for my friend's company. I wrote to them because they are located near to my friend's office. In my mail to them, I stated clearly that I am not a recruitment agent or a headhunter. I do not collect any fees from my friend. My intention is just to help anyone who is out of job and is desperately looking for a job for survival.
I was shocked to receive the below replies from them :
1. You are not a member of the society. As such we will not broadcast your mail to our members.
2. As a policy, our society do not post any non related and non-activity driven emails in our noticeboard.
I respect their organizations' policies. In fact, they should have the right policies to ensure the smooth running of their organizations.
One thing I do not understand and or still confuse is that all the religions in the world teach us to be good, be compassionate and help those who are in need of help. I wonder should the above societies need to review their policies? Are their policies in line with their religious teaching? Are the policies of the societies just to promote members' get together gathering, hold religious seminar, listening to religious sermons, organize fund raising campaign for the societies, conduct hymn singing sessions, organize religious retreat and organize "once a year" festive trip to orphanage and old folks' home? I do not know. I am just wondering what can we realize if we were to just study hard about the Holy Scripture and we do not practise what is taught in the Holy Scripture?
I believe in this economic downturn, there will be many people who are out of job. I believe one of the areas where the religious societies can help the society is to help those people who are out of employment to get back a job. As we are aware, some of the people who were being retrenched were the sole breadwinner of the family. I do hope that the religious societies should also include community service as one of their main objectives!
Policy is " Man Made"! If the policy is no more applicable or deviated from the main Teaching, I believe that society should review the policy accordingly! Anyone disagree? Please share.

A " Strong And Courageous " Mindset

Soh : I will let the past go!

Soh Cher Wei, the lady holding the joss-stick in the picture is a STRONG and COURAGEOUS lady. My highest respect to her.

To find out more of her story , please click on the link : Soh : I will let the past go !

Soh Cher Wer is the fiancee of Mr Teoh Beng Hock, the ex-political secretary to Selangor exco member Ean Yong Hian Wah, who died on July 16 after falling from one of the floors of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.

The below two statements by Soh :

1. She has made her peace over her fiance Teoh Beng Hock’s death and will now remember their happy times together instead."

2. " I told myself that I did not need to cry. I will let the past go ".
has really earned my highest respect.

Just imagine how many of us can really focus on " Remember the happy times together" and " Let Go " what we have especially the beloved ones? It is not easy for us to do so. As for Soh, I believe Soh has realized and accepted the fact that she will never see Teoh again in this life. No one knows what lies ahead for her, she needs to be strong to face the future challenges.

"Let Go" is an easy phrase to say! Many of us can even use the phrase to advise people who are facing adversity. However, I do not know how many of us can really let go when we are facing the same type of situation. We must cultivate our mind so that we can realize that all things in this world are subjected to Impermanence!

Lastly, may I take this opportunity to wish Soh,

" MAY SOH BE WELL AND HAPPY ALWAYS! "

and as for Teoh,

" MAY TEOH BE WELL AND HAPPY IN HIS NEXT LIFE! "

Should We Cultivate "Good Begets Good" Mindset?

Recently, I saw a lady who went to seek blessings from a religious teacher. She cried and told the religious teacher that someone has cast a spell on her recently. According to her, she has lost her appetite to eat and also can't sleep well now. Her health is deteriorating and she feel dizzy the whole day. She requested the religious teacher to do some blessings for her. The religious teacher complied to her request. One week later, the lady came back to tell the religious teacher that the bad spell has come back again.

I do not underestimate the power of " blessings or black magic ". However, can "blessings and or black magic" solve our problem permanently? Well, I do believe that blessings does boost up our spirit. As for "black magic or charm ", it may tame down our senses at time, however, the consequences we have to suffer is immense! Just to share a real story of my friend : Many years back, I had a friend who likes to play around with "black magic". One day, one of his subordinates quarrelled with him, he told me that he was so upset and he enagaged a medium to cast a spell on this subordinate. His subordinate did not know about it. A few weeks later, his subordinate met with an accident and lost one of his limbs ( I do not know whether was it a co-incidence?! ). Since then, my friend has become so "guilty conscious" that he always like to distant himself from all his subordinates and colleagues. He just don't like to hear about the story of this subordinate. I believe he is living in the shadow of FEAR! He scared that his other colleagues and subordinates may find out he had cast a spell on this subordinate. I believe there is no word in this world that can express the mental anguish he has to go through after the incident!

As for me personally, I am more concerned to know why people would want to a cast a spell on us? Also, the most important question is, " Why You and Not Others "? I strongly believe that for any "effects" that we get, there must be some causes or reasons behind. What are the reasons or causes which make people to be so unhappy or jealous over us? Did we intentionally hurt anyone physically or mentality? What are the things that we didn't do it right? I believe most of the people will be more focussing on why people want to take such a horrible action towards us instead of what we have done wrong? Man always blinded by our own "selfishness". What we have done towards others we just want people to forget about it, but whatever people has done towards us, it is just so difficult for us to forget about it!
As the saying goes, if we do good towards others, others will reciprocate accordingly. I believe strongly with this saying! Anyone has different view? Please share your view.

Should We Worry About " FATE " ?

Recently, a friend of mine told me the story of a lady who committed suicide a few months ago. He told me that the lady committed suicide because she was living in the state of "FEAR"! According to my friend, this lady went to consult a fortune teller about her life before she committed suicide. The fortune teller told her that she has to be extremely careful when she reaches the age of 28. According to the fortune teller, the lady will be encountering a traumatic situation which will endanger her life at that age. This lady was so worried that she couldn't sleep and eat well. She was at the age of 25 then. She suspected that she will have a short life after the consultation and she told everybody that she will not live past the age of 28. Eventually, she went into "Depression". A few months before she committed suicide, she started to see images at every corner of her house. Sometime she will talk to her ownself for a few hours and told her family members that she was talking to some spirits. She even told some of her family members that one of the spirit wanted her to be with him soon. Since she is mentally unstable, everyone just ignore what she said. The next thing her family knew was that she has committed suicide at the age of 27!

I believe that there are many incidences like this happening around the world everywhere, everyday and every minute! Those who do not have the ability to control their own destiny and or fate, other people will take over their control. What a pity?!

It is a fact that we should keep ourself happy all the times. Most of the time, things that make us unhappy are things that were already passed and/or things that are going to happen. I believe the above stated lady was trapped in this type of situation. She had neglected the fact that we are here in this world for a good and valuable moment and not for a long time, we do not live forever. We should put our concentration on what we can do and not focussing on the non value added thought on how long can one live!
Anyway, does it really matter how long we can live? Why should we spend our valuable time to focus on things that no one can really give us an exact answer? Why can't we put our concentration on what we can do rather than to cry over the past or worry about the future? As the saying goes, if you want to know what you had done in the past, you are experiencing the "results or fruit" now! If you want to know about your future, the present moment is the "processing time"! We have to be realistic and live in the present moment! I believe if the above stated lady can let go about what the fortune teller told her and do not worry so much about her future, she will not go into Depression!

If our mind is clear, no one or no unwholesome thoughts can take over your life! As we can see from some of the cancer patients, if they have a strong mind to "fight" the war, the chances are there for them. If their mind were to tell them to give up and they really give up, I do not believe there is a slightest chance for them to survive!

A Tribute To Michael Jackson - The King Of Pop

The passing away of Michael Jackson, the King Of Pop is a great loss to the music industry and the entertainment world. His professional showmanship, his passion towards music, his drive, his energy and the songs he composed had really shaken the world. Michael Jackson was also a great samaritan. He had donated much of his fortune to help the poor and the children.
Although there are many controversies around him, I believe Michael has done his job well in this world. His untiring efforts to bring joy to the people in the world has really gained my highest respect! I believe his below four great songs have really touched the hearts of many of us. They are : We Are The World, You Are Not Alone, Heal The World and Earth Song. The songs are so meaningful, beautiful and inspiring. Through these few meaningful, beautiful and inspiring songs, Michael delivered an important message to all mankind in the world, that is we need to be back to the basic human nature, that is to show respect, love and be generous towards all mankind in this world!
Although Michael Jackson has left us physically, his high spirit can never be erased from our mind! Let us put our hearts together to bid farewell to this Great Man!
"MAY MICHAEL JACKSON BE WELL AND HAPPY IN HIS NEXT LIFE!"

Can A Clear Mind Help?

" Chicken comes first or an egg comes first? "

Recently, I came to know about an interesting organization where this question will definitely be posted to a candidate when he or she comes for an interview. According to the founder of the Group, this question is important to him. He always use this question to assess whether the potential candidate has the same alignment with him in terms of belief, value and philosophy. If the candidate is having different view from him, he will not employ the candidate eventhough he has good academic results. This is really an interesting way of checking a person's belief, value and philosophy of a person.

Nowadays, we can see many young couples break off after they have married for just a few years. I believe at the time when they were courting, everything was so............... beautiful! They were living in an idealistic dream! I have a friend who was having this similar problem. When they were courting, he will eat whatever his girl friend eats eventhough he didn't like the food. When his girl friend tells him she doesn't like to have baby, he agreed with her. After having married for two years, they told me that they just couldn't stay together anymore. He told me he can't eat what she eats everyday. He has totally different taste bud from her. He told me his parent is requesting him to have at least one baby. If he wants to have a baby, he has broken his promise to his wife. If he doesn't want to have a baby, he will disappoint his parents as he is the only son in his family. He is in a dilemma now, he really doesn't know what to do!

If we were to have a clear mind like the enterpreneur as stated above, I believe we will have a own set of "selection criteria" to be focus on. If we have identified the so called "selection criteria", the chances of we going wrong can be minimised. Well, be it in business, working environment, or choosing a life partner, we must have a cool and clear mind.

Should We Accept "Impermanent"?

" You by my side, that's how I see us, I close my eyes, and I can see us, we on our way to say " I Do "........". What a beautiful wedding song!

When my aunty married ten years ago the above beautiful song was played at the banquet hall where the wedding dinner was served. Recently, I came to know that my aunty was having a serious marital problem with her husband. According to my sister-in-law, my aunty discovered that her husband is having an affair with a young lady from foreign country. What I heard is that the lady was young, gorgeous, have very good social skill and also good skill at taking care of "man". I ama really surprised that this unhappy incident happened to my aunty. I still remembered the day when my uncle proposed to marry my aunty, everyone in the family were so happy. Everyone in the family thought that this is a perfect match! Out of a sudden, I heard that my uncle's heart has changed, he told my aunty that he, as a well known businessman in the society, he cannot live with a lady who is old looking, non fashionable, not sociable....... . What an insult to my aunty?! It seems he won't grow old!

If my uncle is attached to the "image" of "young, pretty and gorgeous" look, definitely, my aunty won't be abe to meet it! Everything in this world is subjected to change! All of us will grow old, the appearance of our physical body will change accordingly. Our muscles will start to sag, our internal organ will start to show sign of degeneration...... . How can one goes against the natural laws?

In my opinion,we have to accept the fact that nothing in this world is permanent! We must make sure that we do not let our mind sways us away from believing that "All conditioned things are Impermanent!". Whatever thing arises in this world are with conditions, e.g. a table, the conditions are : we must buy the wood, we must cut it according to the specification, we must polish the wood............ . Same like conceiving a baby, the conditions are : father and mother must come together, it's the fertile period of the mother ........... . If we do not meet all these conditions, do you think the end results can be met? Same goes to my aunty's situation, if my uncle can accept the the fact that our physical body is subjected to the natural process of change, I do believe they will not come to this type of situation!
